When we have to consider auspicious day, we need to look into the energy circulation whether generation or destruction are present. For example, during spring wood energy is the strongest link and while the day energy is metal, then this is considered as energy destruction day.
Example two, during summer when fire energy dominates, and the day is water day, then this is another energy destruction day. This is the same process for autumn wood energy day and winter fire energy day.

按大撓占。斗建作十干。主動應天而負名。曰天干。作十二支。主靜應地而方名。曰地支。所謂木火土金水。由乎陰靜陽動之中。以藏諸用也。以甲丙戊庚𡈼屬陽。乙丁辛癸屬陰。配於四方居乎外。戊己居中。應乎天體輕清。故無肖相也。
以申辰寅午戌屬陽。故蹄瓜單也。惟子居夜半上四刻。屬頭目謂陰。下四刻屬次日謂陽。故鼠足前四爪後五爪也。以子午卯酉居四正。丑寅辰巳未申戌亥。隸乎四隅。應乎地體重濁。故屬肖相也。
所謂木生亥。火生寅。金生巳。水土生申。納音五行德秀論。非陰陽順逆之理於此。又陽干生於寅申巳亥。死於子午卯酉。陰干生於子午卯酉。死於寅申巳亥也。
以天干所屬五行配於身。陽順陰逆。以得胎養生冠官旺。六者為氣盛。則體具得。衰敗病死墓絕。六者為氣衰。受尅制。則體缺愚。亦未得共詳。亦不知起於何時人也。
When we talk about the twelve earthly branches, they are also popular as the twelve Chinese zodiac. They are named after the tail of the Big Dipper. As the heavenly stems are yang which is active and while the earthly branches are yin and being quiet. Here are wood, fire, earth, metal and water energy.
Jai, Bing, Wu, Geng and Ren are yang stems, Yi, Ding, Shen and Gui are yin stems. Wu and Ji earth are in the middle sector.
Regarding the ten stages of heavenly stems, wood is born in Hai water, fire is born in Yin wood, metal is born in Si fire, water is born in Shen metal. Yang stems are born in Yin, Shen, Si and Hai, while yin stems are born in Zi, Wu, Mao, Yau.

自歲旦日數去。遇辰日為龍治水也。如正月正月初一日得辰。便是為一龍治水也。
求牛耕地
自歲旦日數去。遇丑日為牛耕地也。如正月正月初一日得丑。便是為一牛耕地也。
求得辛法
自歲旦日數去。遇辛日為得辛日也。如正月正月初一日得辛。便是為一辛祈穀祖也。
求二社日
自立春立秋。第五箇戊字便為社也。又云春分秋分前後。近戊者為社。又有六戊為社者。何也。曰立春立秋。便見戊字取得節時刻。在午前定五戊為社。如在午後六戊為社也。故春社常在二月內。春祭祈穀之生。秋社常在八月內。秋祭報穀之熟。禮祭儀云。工氏之子曰。勾龍為後后土。能平水土。故祀之以為社也。
One main purpose of Chinese almanac is to forecast the likely picture of the coming year. These forecasts derived from very limited resources, as a result, experts at the old times, made use of five elements and stems and branches to come to a result.
Foresee if the coming year has plenty of rain, through seeing when is the first Chen (dragon was treated as the god of rain) earth day and the earlier the first Chen day, the less rain is expected, on the other hand, the later the first Chen day, the more rain is to be expected. Since China is a farming based economy and the amount of rain directly affects the country’s economic.
The second indicator is first Chou day. Chou in earthly branch is cow. Cow is a good helper in planting in the old days. As the result, the amount of cow that are available for farming is another critical facts to ensure a good planting cycle.
The third indication is the first Shen day. Shen as an earthly branches means dedicated metal such as precious gems and jewels. To take one step forward, this means the economic performance for the coming year.
Since the agricultural performance is a critical fact, then spring worship and autumn celebrations for the cycle of planting and harvest are important activities to praise for good farming cycle throughout the whole year.

Explanation
This date is derived from the earthly branches destruction mode. In case the mode appears within a bazi chart, then this is a possible message for minor (kids) injuries or illness during young age or parents’ accident.

三車一覽命書詳論。十卷。宋。方謙之編
春庚。夏𡈼。秋甲。冬丙
問曰。何以謂之四廢。荅曰囚死而無用謂之廢。
春乃木神用事之時。金囚而無用。故以庚為廢（庚屬金也）
夏乃火神用事之時。水囚而無用。故以𡈼為廢（𡈼屬水也）
秋乃金神用事之時。木死而無用。故以甲為廢（甲屬木也）
冬乃水神用事之時。火死而無用。故以丙為廢（丙屬火也）
今人多以春見庚辛便謂之廢。夏見𡈼癸便為之廢。

凡人命中帶此。作事不成而無終。始至於用事之初。亦宜避之。
近輩晚學誑惑（欺騙迷惑）人。以纔見庚辛便作廢論。
豈不繆哉。殊不知於命中無忌也。

In Chinese almanac, there are ten days that the 4th stage of heavenly stems, the graduation stage falls into the empty star. This means that the remuneration blessings on the 4th stage becomes empty on these ten particular days. This is non-auspicious message.

The concept of the Emperor in ancient chinese society 中國古代皇帝概念
When we flip through the Chinese Almanac, it is easy to see the concept of ancient emperors throughout various aspects in the Chinese Almanac. To find out the answer, we have to understand how the people from the ancient society think and what do they know what their emperors were.
The most popular must be the ‘Yellow Emperor’, the almanac even has its own fortune telling method base him. According to history, the concept of emperor can be traced as early as 3500 years ago in Shen Dynasty 商朝. Philosophers in ancient times agreed that the emperors were sent from their God and he came to rule their clan on behalf of their mighty God. Therefore, all the land that they can reach or anything on the piece of land belongs to their emperor. 三世書由來 Triple life bible
Triple life bible, is an ancient book handed down to present from the old days, as old as a few thousand years ago and it is still widely used in Chinese Almanac.
This triple life concept was once originated from buddhist. It is talking about our past, present and future lives. How can the three different stages interacting with each other. Receive Day
Receive has a meaning of harvest, and stored. it’s the time for some achievement enjoy moment. This day is good for weddings, doing trips, house moving, starting education, receiving wealth, debts, rents and funerals.
Buying properties, make rental agreements etc.
For litigations, this is only good when he/she is the suing the party, but not vice versa.

生氣之位。最宜上官入學。架造新屋。移徙出行大吉方。開倉庫。商店交易。堆錢厚祿。開井安灶。宜嫁娶。

Open Day
Open day stands for a brand new start, a new trend of energy is starting to escalate, so this is an all good sign. This is particularly suitable for career commencement, starting an education, building houses, immigration, trading and weddings.
This day is not suitable for funerals.
If that particular day has lucky stars overlapping such as the sun, then this will has extra blessings energy on falling pregnant and properties.

閉者。閉塞之義。忌上任經商。移徙出行大凶方。尤忌做屋開新塘。治療針灸。開分店。季月忌遠回。主閉而不通。如入牢獄之意。

Close Day
Close day means closing down and energy is not circulating. This is not a good day for doing business, taking up a new career position, opening new shops, immigration, building new houses and acupuncture.
When the calendar month is earth element, this is particularly not suitable for long distance traveling.
This is a suitable day for funerals, pest control, building pipelines and tomb sweeping.
新屋入伙 (取用法）擇日大略 House moving date
擇日新屋入伙是為取吉利之意。想歲歲平安福到家門。添灯發財。
所以日子方面多取通勝擇日。
以（建。除。滿。平。定。執。破。危。成。收。開。閉）日。
加上月日神煞加臨吉方。成入伙吉日。

House moving and house renovation is a big project and everyone wants the process could be as smooth and trouble free as possible. By looking up the most auspicious day works as a blessing for the activity.
There are twelve different types of days and each has its own function and reference.

Usually, we like to find the lucky star of the day too. Experts will not use the establishment, destruction and close day.

龍治水 First Chen Day 辰日
農耕時代天氣好壞。就是來年收成指表。所以農耕流傳「幾龍治水」。「幾牛耕地」。預測天氣對農業收成多寡（占兆）。
又「幾餅分食」。「幾蠶養姑」為社會物品流通（占兆）
New year is an important festival for Chinese society since long time ago. Therefore, all the hints that is going to give messages if the new year is going to be an auspicious and a good one plays a main part.
Agriculture is an important source of income for the society at that time. As a result, they believed when is the very first Chen day is an indicator that is going to tell them if this year is going to have sufficient amount of rain for farming.
Chen, if the third earthly branch among the twelve earthly branches. It represents dragon and the water safe box too. When we look in the Chinese almanac, we can check if the first Chen day is coming on the first day of the new year, or the twelve day.
If the first day (as being shown in the picture below) is Chen, then it means the coming year is going to be relatively dry, on the other hand, if the later the Chen day, the more rain is going to come.
In another word, this is a simple way of future harvest prediction.
